What happens if I cut a hedge with birds nesting in it?

You’re committing a criminal offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Damaging or destroying an active nest or its eggs is a criminal offence. Stop work on that section and refer to the official GOV.UK wild bird guidance. Record the check and return when the nest is no longer in use.
