You are committing a criminal offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The maximum penalty is an unlimited fine and up to six months in prison. In practice, fines range from several hundred to several thousand pounds plus a criminal record. The RSPB investigates and will prosecute. Your neighbour will probably report you before the RSPB gets involved.
