Every commercial job needs a site-specific risk assessment and method statement, or RAMS. Not a template downloaded from the internet. Written for your site. It covers access routes, plant positioning, overhead cables, underground services, neighbouring properties, traffic management and waste disposal. You get it before work starts.

A domestic job fits around the homeowner's day. A commercial job fits around your site operations. Whatever causes the least disruption to your business. The site stays live throughout.

Scale

A domestic garden might have three trees. A commercial site might have thirty. A business park might have a hundred. Each tree has its own constraints. What a commercial tree surgery programme looks like

Every site is different. But here is how a typical commercial job runs, using a business park in Harrogate with fifteen to twenty trees as an example.

Day 0: Site visit. We walk the site with you. You point at the trees you are worried about. We tell you what needs doing, why, and what it will cost. The visit is free.

Within 3 working days: Written quote. Fixed price. No hidden extras. RAMS document included. The number we quote is the number you pay.

Agreed start date. Usually within 2 to 4 weeks of quote acceptance. Sooner for dead or dangerous trees. We work around your site operations. Car parks stay open. Deliveries continue. If a tree is blocking a fire escape, we deal with that first.

During the work. All waste is chipped on site and removed. No piles of branches left in the corner of the car park for weeks. The site stays tidy throughout.

What commercial tree work costs

There is no useful daily rate or price-per-tree guide for commercial work. Too many variables. A tree 40 metres from the access road with overhead cables in the way costs more to work on than the same species sitting in an open field.

These are the factors that determine the price.

Access

The single biggest cost driver. Can we get a tracked chipper and a MEWP to the tree? If not, everything gets carried out by hand. That can triple the time on a single job.

Proximity to structures

A tree three metres from a warehouse wall cannot be felled in one piece. It needs sectional dismantling with ropes and rigging. Slower and more methodical than open-field felling.

Underground services

Gas mains, water pipes, electric cables near the tree. Close to services, stump grinding is often manual work instead of machinery. Caution takes time.

Protected species

Nesting birds mean no tree work between March and August if the tree is occupied. A bat roost requires a licensed surveyor to clear the site. Ecology constraints are non-negotiable.

Tree Preservation Orders

Protected trees need council consent before any work. We handle the application. You do not need to, but it adds time to the front end of the programme.
